Final Budget and Workplan for FY 2026-2027
On June 10, 2026, the Placer Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) held a public hearing and adopted a Final Workplan and Final Budget for fiscal year (FY) 2026-27.
The Final Workplan identifies thirty-five (35) projects and tasks scheduled for the upcoming fiscal year. Key priorities include processing active reorganization applications on a full cost-recovery basis, including the Town of North Tahoe incorporation proposal; advancing scheduled municipal service reviews and sphere of influence updates; supporting the Commission’s executive leadership transition; and strengthening long-term organizational capacity through staffing and operational initiatives.
The total operating budget for FY 2026-27 is $1,304,727.88. This budget maintains baseline operational stability and is generally consistent with the Commission's adopted operating budget for the previous fiscal year. As a reminder, funding for LAFCO operations is shared equally among three funding groups: one-third by Placer County, one-third collectively by the six cities, and one-third collectively by the 37 independent special districts. For this upcoming fiscal year, each funding groups’ baseline one-third share totals $426,056.93.
